Pear & Cardamom Oatmeal Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups water or milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 ripe pears
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey (plus extra for serving)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pistachios
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnishing)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of rolled oats and 2 cups of water or milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Add 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. While the oatmeal cooks, peel and slice 2 ripe pears. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the sliced pears to the skillet, then drizzle with 1 tablespoon of honey. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until caramelized.
  5. When the oatmeal reaches the desired consistency, remove it from heat and serve in bowls.
  6. Top the oatmeal with the caramelized pears, a sprinkle of chopped pistachios, and an extra drizzle of honey.
