Ingredients

  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 apples
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vanilla cream
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Add 1 cup of steel-cut oats and reduce heat to low.
  3. Simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally until oats are tender.
  4. Meanwhile, peel and dice 2 apples.
  5. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
  6. Add the diced apples, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar to the skillet.
  7. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the apples are tender.
  8. Once the oats are cooked, serve them in bowls topped with the sautéed apples.
