Ingredients

  • 500g beef (sirloin or rib-eye)
  • 60ml soy sauce
  • 30g brown sugar
  • 15ml sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 250g rice
  • 200g spinach (for sesame greens)
  • 1 medium carrot (julienned)
  • 15ml rice vinegar
  • kimchi (for serving)
  • sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the beef bulgogi marinade by combining soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Slice the beef into thin strips and marinate it in the mixture for at least 30 minutes.
  3. While the beef is marinating, cook rice according to package instructions.
  4. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add the marinated beef strips in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  5. For the sesame greens, blanch spinach in boiling water for 1 minute, then drain and toss with sesame oil and salt.
