Ingredients

  • 250g tagliatelle
  • 500g ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 400g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 150ml red wine
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Italian herbs (oregano, basil)
  • Parmesan cheese, for serving
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add 1 finely chopped onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 chopped carrot, and 1 chopped celery stalk. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  3. Add 500g of ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in 400g of canned crushed tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, and 150ml of red wine.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs like oregano and basil. Simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cook 250g of tagliatelle in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package instructions.
  7. Drain the pasta, then toss it with the ragù sauce.
  8. Serve hot, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a sprig of basil.
