Oatmeal with Caramelized Pears and Almond Crunch

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups water or milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 ripe pears, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 40 grams almonds

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water or milk to a boil.
  2. Stir in 1 cup of rolled oats and reduce heat to a simmer.
  3. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until oats are creamy.
  4. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
  5. Add sliced pears and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon.
  6. Cook for 3-5 minutes until pears are caramelized, stirring gently.
  7. Divide the oatmeal into bowls and top with the caramelized pears.
  8. Garnish with a handful of almonds and a dash of additional cinnamon if desired.
